路透社和一家名叫“稅務研究”的英國獨立調研機構共同進行的一項爲期四年的調查顯示，星巴克在英14年營業額達30億英鎊（約合48億美元），但累計繳納公司所得稅僅爲860萬英鎊（約合1376萬美元），納稅額低於營業額的1％。去年星巴克在英國的營業額爲3．98億英鎊（6．37億美元），卻宣佈虧損3290萬英鎊（5264萬美元），未繳納任何稅金。</div>

據英國稅務專家分析，星巴克公司採用了一系列複雜的方法來逃避繳納稅款，包括收取專利和版權費，向英國分公司提供高息貸款和利用公司的供應鏈將利潤轉移，像變戲法似的讓自己在英國產生的利潤消失的無影無蹤，聰明地避了稅。</div>

雖然星巴克此舉已然犯了衆怒，但專家稱，這些跨國企業恰恰是利用了現存法律規定中的空子，他們的做法屬於合法範疇。也有人爲跨國企業辯護，稱雖然這些企業沒有繳納多少公司所得稅，但它們通過爲職工繳付包括醫療和養老等各種保險和向消費者收取增值稅等方式也爲英國稅收做了不少貢獻。</div>

星巴克也否認該公司逃稅，稱英國是該企業最重要的市場之一，重申在英國的稅務一切合法。公司發言人稱：“我們是守規矩和良好的納稅人。對我們逃稅的指責是絕對失實的。”該公司同時也強調星巴克爲英國創造了9000名工作機會。</div>
