據美國有線電視新聞網(CNN)10日報道，星巴克的新年紅色咖啡杯設計在今冬採用不同以往的深紅色，並且色彩漸進式地向杯底渲染，設計師取消了過去使用的聖誕季節象徵符號，比如馴鹿、雪花、聖誕樹等點綴，只剩星巴克自己的商標。</p>

此款咖啡杯10月底推出，便在社交網站引起爭議，曾當過牧師的美國專欄作家約書亞·福爾斯坦製作的“吐槽視頻”更是在網絡上瘋傳。福爾斯坦在視頻中抨擊星巴克移除代表聖誕節的圖案，理由是“他們憎恨耶穌，反對基督教和聖誕節文化”，他還鼓勵網民把這款咖啡杯命名爲“聖誕節快樂”。這段視頻如今已獲得1400萬點擊量。正在爲競選造勢的特朗普10日呼籲抵制星巴克。他在伊利諾伊州告訴民衆，“我有間經營得有聲有色的星巴克店鋪，就在我的大樓裏。也許，我們應該抵制星巴克?我不知道。老實說，我不在乎。租約到此爲止，但誰在乎?如果我當選總統，我們將再次互道聖誕節快樂。”</p>
<p>
不過，也有人不以爲然。美國喜劇演員羅恩·波爾在社交網站留言稱，“如果基督教需要咖啡店來做形象大使的話，我們需要重新梳理的問題就太多”。美國作家勞拉·特納在博客文章中說，“這些提出反對咖啡杯設計的基督徒可能缺少對自身發展的信心，我們不需要對此再着墨了。”美國福克斯新聞網稱，不要對這隻咖啡杯大驚小怪，就是隻普通的杯子，又不是基督教的“聖盃”。《華盛頓郵報》採訪了幾名基督教徒，他們表示自己對杯子的設計“並不在意”。</p>
<p>
星巴克對此發表聲明回應說，星巴克是試圖創造一種具有歸屬感、包容性和多元化的文化，“希望在假日展現一種設計的簡約”。</p>
